Saskatchewan Wheat Development Commission (Sask Wheat) is a producer-led organization established to grow the provinces wheat industry. After their review of website proposals from several web design agencies, Sask Wheat chose 2 Web Design to help take their online presence to the next level.

Web Design Project

Sask Wheat’s primary goals in the web refresh project were inform and educate their audience by showcasing their research and projects, integration of real-time feeds, and news. As well, the website is designed to be adaptable and tailored to the needs of their producers while also enlightening everyday consumers.

The website we designed showcases their invested research and development projects. The website refresh also involved integrating live weather, agriculture news, and commodity pricing feeds. There is also an informative and educational industry news section that is structured similar to a blog on the back end.

Sask Wheat’s website also features information for current check-off programs, and SR&ED Investment Tax Claim Program, and refund requests.

Customizing the WordPress Content Management System

Due to their familiarity with the platform, Sask Wheat decided to go with a WordPress backend that 2 Web Design was able to add customized features to. We built in additional customized modules and plug-ins to expand the functionality of the basic content management system, helping the client manage their content better.

Mobile Ready with Responsive Design

The next step in growing the provinces wheat industry is growing Sask Wheat’s audience. A major way to do this is the application of responsive design to their website. By allowing optimal viewing regardless of devices, responsive design assists in expanding their reach through improved user friendliness and user experience.
