There are many ways to build your email list, but ten of 2 Web Design’s favourites are:

  • On business cards
  • Through traditional advertising
  • With event sign ups
  • On social networks
  • On your website
  • With your email signature
  • Through lead generation offers
  • Ask for it in person
  • Through your client database
  • With contests and deals

10 Best Practices

  1. Personalization – making it appear that you are not sending a mass email
  2. Targeting specific segments of your list that would be interested in specific content
  3. Nurturing prospects into clients, and clients into referral machines
  4. Encourage social sharing
  5. Producing mobile friendly content
  6. Lead the way with CTA’s! Show your audience where to go and lead them to deposit their email within a lead generation form.
  7. Be engaging and useful
  8. Don’t include spammy words, phrases or punctuation
  9. Follow CASL by allowing your subscribers to easily opt out and by asking for permission
  10. Track and measure your success with analytics
  11. Optimize with A/B testing – figure out which areas you could improve by providing different copy to your audience to see which performs better
