Top tips & best types of video content
- storytelling (bringing you and your products and/or services to life)
- how-to (providing guidance and instruction)
- focus on quality over length
(I hate to be the bearer of bad news…but this feature is only available for businesses in the US and UK atm ? )
New Business Boosting Tools on Facebook
Feb. 28, 2017 – Facebook releases new features to help take your business to the next level, including:
- ability to post (and apply for) jobs!… time to start shining up that ole FB profile ?
- rich video experience that allows a better experience and a more fuller viewing screen. Crucial for anyone with visual content: travel agents, bloggers, restaurants, etc
You Can Now Share Up To 10 Photo/Video Per Post on IG
Feb. 22, 2017 – Despite the fact that we can already share as MANY pictures on Facebook as we want, I cannot be the only one who is so thrilled to see this feature come to Instagram!
The opportunities are endless. You no longer have to just select ONE image or video to showcase your story, you can add multiple photos and or videos (up to 10 max). use it to show off step-by-step, how your product is made, capture and share in-office action.
Wondering what you can do with it?
- use it to show off something step-by-step (either for fun: going to the business conference or meeting, making the cake at your bakery, preparing the product for shipping; or for serious: teaching someone to do something — using one image per step, etc)
- capture and share in-office action
- demo products in action and/or the making of services (multiple angles and video!)
- highlight employees (individually and/or as a group) or partners
- share customer success stories, case studies, and/or testimonials
- document behind-the-scenes stuff
- before and after projects
Google Shares Best Ways to Temp. Close Up Shop Online
Feb. 28, 2017 – I know what you’re thinking. WHY would anyone ever want to take a break from their online presence? Well, you best believe it, there are times when you may need to shut it down for a while without affecting your search presence (for example, if you have to optimize your shopping cart, you can temporarily disable it to stop people from shopping while you’re building on it.)
But be careful about the length of time you pause your site because Google claims that:
“Blocking a site for longer than a week can have negative effects on the site’s search results” Click to tweet
Google to Completely Shut Down Google Site Search
Feb. 21, 2017 – Google announces that they will be discontinuing sales of the paid version of Google Site Search (GSS) as of April 1, 2017. Then, they plan to completely discontinue the service by April 1, 2018.
What does this mean for you?
- May need to find a new search solution
- Continued use of Google Search Engine in your site will automatically transition customers to their free service (CSE – Custom Search Engine) when it’s officially discontinued. CSE inserts Google ads within your search results and may return results from the entire web, not specifically just your website
Until next Tuesday…
