Digital Marketing Insights

Don’t you just love it when a client keeps coming back for more? I know I do. On one hand it gives you a belief that the work you’re performing is of good quality, and that you’re continuing to meet and exceed their expectations. And on the other, you’ve built that level of trust in the relationship – which, as we all know, can go along way when doing business. But, before I even begin to head down THAT existentialist road, I’ll stop that there and save that little treat for another time.

Instead I want to focus your attention on one of our clients that fits this bill: the Saskatchewan Association of Rehabilitation Centres – more commonly referred to as SARC. Even though this relationship is still in its infancy, just over a year old, 2 Web Design have designed and developed 2 websites for them – their main corporate site and for SARCAN Recycling. And now I’m happy to be discussing a third project that has recently gone live – Caring Careers.

Caring Careers

Caring Careers, is an initiative of SARC and provides services and support to its Member Agencies. Now for those of you that are unfamiliar with the Member Agencies, then first of all shame on you! Secondly, these are community-based organizations that assist people with disabilities to attain their identified goals, such as every day activities, life milestones, living independently, and gaining employment – something that most of us take for granted.

However, the problem was that this information was not being channeled effectively through the existing site. Why? Well, to start it looked like this…

Caring Careers old website design

Straight away you’ll notice 2 things: 1. It’s very archaic, and 2. It’s just blah. The reason for this is (and I’m pretty certain you won’t be surprised by this because we weren’t!), the last time any love, care (oh yeah , irony!), and attention was given to the Caring Careers website was in 2007. Wow – exactly! 6 years ago which, as us web-folk know, is at least 4 years past a websites sell-by-date. But, that’s the past. Let’s look on to the future!

The Website Project

Caring Careers is, as previously stated, an initiative of SARC. Therefore, it was important for the redesign of the site to reflect the existing SARC brand. Which, as I’m sure you will agree – by viewing the image below – has been done. On top of this, the new look and feel Caring Careers websites also includes:

  • Searchable job postings, with the ability for users to upload their resume and apply online
  • Integration of SARC’s social media platforms – Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube
  • Resources and information on careers and training

Caring Careers new website design

As I’m sure you have noticed by now – the image above is dead giveaway – the new Caring Careers website is responsive. As with all the SARC projects, each of their websites have been developed with responsive web design. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this technique, it’s the ability for a website to readjust, adapt, or “respond” to the screen size that it is being viewed on – desktop, tablet, or smartphone.

Therefore, by implementing this technique it makes the website extremely user-friendly as there is no need to “pinch and zoom”. You can just browse through the website easily and efficiently.

More information on the Caring Careers web design project, including an in-depth discussion on what we did, how we did it, and an explanation of the customized functionality that was developed for the website, can be viewed on our Portfolio.
