We tend to harp on about how most people in our modern world don’t have time to read excessive amounts of information. Instead they like to absorb information visually through image and videos. However, I like to think of myself as not like most people. I do in fact love reading. Admittedly I don’t read as often as I’d like to, but when I do find the time (and forgive me for sounding like a Helen Fielding character) there’s nothing better than sitting down with a coffee and a good book.
Now, for those of you who are in the same boat as me and like to read good books, Christmas is just around a corner so it’s time to start making that wish list. Personally, I am hoping for Sir Alex Ferguson’s autobiography (if you don’t know who that is – then shame on you!). So hopefully my wife reads this and I get my Christmas wish. However, if not then I should probably have a back-up.
With this in mind I’d like to introduce you to one of our latest ecommerce web design projects. Purich Publishing, a Saskatoon based publisher, specialize in books on Aboriginal, social justice, legal, and western Canadian issues. As a client of ours for the past few years we’ve had the pleasure of working with them on a variety of projects, with the newest being a complete overhaul of their online presence.
The last time the Purich Publishing website had been redesigned was in 2006, which is a lifetime ago in the online world. So, it was about time a new design was applied – which is what we did. However, in addition to this the 2 Web Design crew developed some new features for the website, including:
- Ecommerce Shopping Cart – Prior to the inclusion of this, the current method of purchasing books published by Purich was conducted offline. However, with this new addition, their customers can now see a book (or books!) they like and buy it right away!
- Responsive Design – The new website has been designed to ensure their website users benefit from a great user experience regardless of what device or browser they view the website on.
- Blog – Developed to provide Purich Publishing an outlet to write articles regarding their new publications, as well as information on the history of the company.
There is a host of other new goodies developed for the website, but I don’t want to spoil the surprise. Therefore, go check out the new Purich Publishing website for yourselves! However, before you go ahead do that, why not let us know your opinion of the new website? Leave you comments below!
