Saskatchewan First Nations Family and Community Institute Inc. (also known as SFNFCI) was formed as a non-profit organization in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. SFNFCI is a “professional services provider that works with a number of stakeholder groups as a result of strategic partnerships and collaborations addressing research, policy and standards development, along with training and professional development opportunities in First Nations Child Welfare.”
Web Design Project
SFNFCI was not happy with their previous website and knew it was time for a change. The design was outdated, it had limited functionality and overall they found that it was just not meeting their needs. So what did we do for them? Well as always I encourage you to go check it out for yourself, but for now here’s a quick overview of the main features of the newly redesigned website.
Board Member Login
As an organization it is important that board members are able to login to get secure access to documents, meeting minutes and other pertinent information about the organization. Therefore, a “Member Login” module was developed which allows SFNFCI to create and manage accounts. As well, it allows them to flexibly post information that is protected from the public website.
Events Calendar with Online Registration
An events calendar was implemented on the website and allows SFNFCI to feature their events/workshops or any presentations in an organized manner. Upon posting the event the calendar also allows them to accept online registrations for that event. These registrations then add the user details to a spreadsheet in the database that they can print out and keep for reference. In addition, upon expiry of the event, the event will also auto-archive and be listed in “Past Events”.
Custom Blog
We incorporated a custom blog on the SFNFCI website which allows them to create content and post useful articles, press releases, testimonials and any other details about their organization. A blog is not only an effective content publishing tool, but also a magnet for search engines as relevant content attracts targeted traffic to the website.
Additionally, the SFNFCI has been designed responsive, which basically means the design of the website automatically re-sizes itself depending on the device it is being viewed on. Responsive design is essential nowadays as it creates a great experience for the user and keeps them sticking around your site.
