Digital Marketing Insights

I know what I’m about to say will seem ironic, but here it goes anyway – who likes to read anymore? Personally I love reading – although these days I do struggle to find the time to do it – but unfortunately for me I’m just part of the very small percentage of society who still likes to read. Instead, the majority of folks would rather be spoon-fed information in quick, short visual bursts.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not akin to this form of “learning” – I mean who wouldn’t rather look at an image or watch a 30 second video on Facebook instead of having to read a friend’s mini-bio regarding their status for that day? But, from my point-of-view, I still like to learn new stuff in the traditional sense.

However, as I mentioned before – I’m just part of that small percentage and for me to start this ramble about the importance of video production for your website is, well, it’s ironic.

Video Production for Online Marketing

If you’re already using video for your online marketing efforts, then treat yourself to an “attaboy”, as you can sleep easy knowing that it’s one of the best decisions you’ve made. If not, then shame on you. I mean, just look at these facts which I’ve lifted from YouTube – assuming that those of you who are yet to explore the importance of video production for your website have heard of YouTube:

  • Over 800 million unique users visit YouTube each month
  • Over 4 billion hours of video are watched each month on YouTube
  • 72 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute
  • 500 years of YouTube video are watched every day on Facebook, and over 700 YouTube videos are shared on Twitter each minute
  • YouTube is available on 350 million devices
  • We (as you YouTube) have more than a million advertisers using Google ad platforms, the majority of which are small businesses

Now, I don’t know about you, but in my opinion these facts present more than enough evidence for you to start using video production for your online marketing – if you’re not already doing so. Just look at point 4 – “500 years of YouTube video are watched every day on Facebook, and over 700 YouTube videos are shared on Twitter each minute.” That floored me.

Video Production and your Website

What’s important to learn from this is just how vital video can be for your website. There are millions of people out there looking for informational videos online – granted quite a lot are looking for ridiculous videos or variations of Miley Cyrus’ “twerk” (what would Billy have to say, I wonder?) – but there are those people who are looking for a solution to a problem. And if you have a video out there providing that solution, then say hello to your new customer.

Therefore, if you’re not using video yet, then I think it’s a good idea that you made a concerted effort to do so. But don’t think for one minute to do this yourself. There’s nothing worse than an amateurish looking video on a website as it will damage your credibility – that’s for sure. Instead seek out a professional video production company who can create something like this for your business:

However, for those of you who are already on the wonderful journey of creating videos for your business website, please remember those stats listed above are for YouTube and YouTube only. Therefore, there’s a whole other untapped selection of video sharing websites for you to target! So, I think it’s best you get on that.
