Case Study – Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan

Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan

Overview

Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan is an icon of summer in Saskatoon. A major source of tourism in Saskatoon, ShakespeareSask is a community festival down by the river, that shares and celebrates the life and plays of William Shakespeare. They’ve put on hundreds of shows since the premiere of the festival in 2002.

The Challenges

Like any non-profit organization, ShakespeareSask needed a way to communicate with their audiences, increase attendance at events, and to increase support.

Their current site wasn’t giving off the greatest vibe. For a lively theatre company, the site was bland and lacklustre. The events calendar was a bit clunky, and it was especially hard to navigate on mobile devices. If you could buy tickets on there, it sure isn’t easy to find!

The partners and sponsors received little recognition with small logos in the footer of the site.

The Solution

In addition to improving their visual presence, we worked with ShakespeareSask to create a mobile-friendly website that allows festival goers to buy tickets on any device, from anywhere! Sponsors and volunteers can also easily find out ways to get involved.

The events calendar showcases upcoming shows, newsletter signup to capture subscribers, and news modules all help keep their target audience informed about upcoming shows, events, and announcements. A sponsor’s carousel features festival donors and supporters.

We also implemented a blog to share company news, deals, and announcements, and social media channels to share co boost engagement with Breakout’s target audience.

We created seamless integrations between the new site and their existing 3rd party systems to accomodate their donations and ticket purchasing functionalities

The Results

The new ShakespeareSask website is not only easy for website administrators to use and to keep the show listings current, but it is also very user-friendly for fans to navigate on the front end.

ShakespeareSask’s new site is sure to become its number one sales channel, by boosting ticket sales, and increasing donations and sponsorships!

Go on, break a leg!
